Pook me up

I haven't been this excited about an interiors find for a long, long time.  My discovery is called 'Pooky'.  A UK based, online treasure trove selling beautiful, original, decorative lighting.  The site is brilliantly designed, easy to navigate and sells the most exquisite lamps and lampshades that don't cost a million pounds.  I've never understood why lighting costs so much.   But it's just one of those things that I've learnt to accept.   Along with chairs, lighting just is expensive.  Until now.

50cm gold hand blocked shade £70

Blue resin lamp base £100
Pink hand blocked shade £54

The silk ikat lampshades have gone straight to the top of my Christmas wish list.  Along with the blue resin bases and navy silk shades.

 Loving the pineapple-esque base

The even better news is that I've sweet talked them into giving you a magic, festive discount.  It's only going to work until  December 7th. So get your skates on.  And please leave some of the ikats for me.

Lumitrix

When Chaz and I got married we had a wedding list with a company that went bust a couple of months before the big day.  Long story short, anyone who'd bought us something lost their money - and we lost all our presents. The silver lining was that lots of our friends went off piste and gave us paintings instead of the usual knives and forks.    We've got a lot of weddings this year and I've decided their wedding presents will be something arty.  My first port of call will be Lumitrix for one of Matilda Temperley's tribal photographs.
Lumitrix is a fab company that takes on relatively undiscovered, brilliant photographers and offers A1 size prints of their work.  Each print is just one of 500, so limited editions and not sillily expensive either.  Perfect wedding present material. And if you want, they can frame them too for you.

The above photographs are all by Matilda Temperley

Marmalade & Mash

When it comes to buying clothes for the Cubs, I'm pretty unadventurous.  Before they arrived I imagined I would spend hours trawling the shops for tiny, wonderful creations.  My own obsession with clothes might wane and be transferred onto their wardrobes rather than mine.   I would be changing them three times a day so we could fit in all their perfect little outfits type thing...  Dream on.
They're lucky if they get a new outfit three times a week. They're permanently covered in cheese, mud, banana... whatever they can find.  It's like they think they're auditioning to be in the 'before' scenes of one of those washing powder adverts.
On top of the dirt issue is the fact that there really is very little out there that I like.  Everything has some sort of hideous logo/picture/slogan on it.  Even my usual, tried and trusted  GAP, Zara baby and H&M aren't guarantees anymore.

So it was a huge joy when I found out about Marmalade&Mash;  the most brilliant, British, simple, logo-free children's clothing company. They're all about traditional, old school clothes - there's lots of bold stripes 'reminiscent of times at the seaside' for the boys and floral, floaty frocks for the girls.  I can't wait to get the Cubs into the green stripy shorts for shrimping in the Scilly Isles this summer.

Marmalade & Mash are offering my readers a 15% discount.
